Kale Walnut Mason Jar Salad

You will not regret trying this recipe. Not only do mason jar salads look really cool, but they are also super convenient. There’s something about having the ingredients in the clear, glass mason jar. It looks beautiful in your fridge, is packed with nutrient dense foods that make you feel good, and only requires dressing and a protein source to be a complete meal.

Where To Get Mason Jars

Don’t have any mason jars at home? I highly recommend getting some. I prefer the wide mouth mason jars since they are bigger. I grabbed a 12 pack off amazon that I use as glasses, to store soup, salads, and chia pudding and grow broccoli sprouts in. The possibilities are endless. I have even painted some and put flowers in them.


You can also find them at your local craft store.

Kale Walnut Mason Jar Salad

Always make more than one. This recipe makes 3, but feel free to double.


• 6 cups Kale, chopped

• 3/4 cup Red Cabbage, chopped

• 1 Orange/Yellow/Red Bell Pepper, chopped

• 1 Cucumber, chopped or 1 cup Broccoli, chopped (or add another veggie you prefer)

• 2oz Walnuts, chopped


1. Add kale to all jars first and press down to make room for the other veggies.

2. Add cabbage then peppers then cucumber/broccoli.

3. Top with walnuts and cover then place in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Topping Ideas:

• Grilled chicken, sliced apples and honey mustard dressing

• Steak, goat cheese, and balsamic dressing

• Grilled chicken, pomegranate seeds, and lemon garlic dressing

That’s it! This is a very simple recipe but I promise you won’t be disappointed.
